We are continuing on our week here discussing the cultivation of cannabis with Lee Spivey,

who is the marketing manager for Good Earth Organics, he also runs his own cannabis cultivation

farm.

We did tease this a little bit when we were talking about how you grow outdoors, you

grow in ground, you have some training techniques that you use.

But if I'm just looking at a bare patch of land in my backyard, for example, how would

I begin to think about preparing that site?

Great question, Kevin.

So preparing your site begins with forethought, proper preparation prevents foreplanting.

So we want to map out a garden, we want to take a look at our space, we want to put it

on paper, we want to draw it out, we want to put it in our minds, we want to find what

vegetables, what plants go with what plants, go with what food, with what timings, what

harvest together, what doesn't harvest together, what plants like to be companions, what

plants don't like to be companions.

And if you're just going strictly cannabis, that's great too, but cannabis does also like

companion plants.

So we want to take that into consideration when mapping out our gardens.

Interesting.

I did not know that there's a big companion planting culture with cannabis.

Yeah, you know, marigolds, things like that, things that keep us away from your plants

that can help your life keeping the plant healthy, happy, because it's going to grow
