Summary

Great leadership stands out in times of crisis because great leaders have prepared themselves for the moment. Their voice is one that responds, not reacts. In this episode, John Maxwell and Mark Cole invite their long-time friends Kevin Myers and Chris Hodges to talk about how leaders should be voices of hope during crisis without neglecting the earnestness of a serious circumstance.

They remind us that all crises are opportunities to lead and that there is a distinction between preparing yourself and preparing for the event. Being intentional about both is what affects your ability to lead in the moment.

Oh, it's my joy. And I have with me Chris Hodges and Kevin Myers. And these two people

are the joy of my life. They're terrific leaders. I've probably been mentoring you guys

1:04.1

for about 20 years. Wouldn't that be about correct? 20 years? Exactly right. Yeah.

1:08.8

And you know, I wish I was this good all the time. You know what I mean? But these two

1:13.7

guys have just actually taken leadership principles that I've taught them, made them better, made

1:19.2

them bigger. Their pastors, they built great churches, churches of the Highlands is I think

1:25.5

maybe the second largest church in America just in Birmingham, Alabama. I mean, what you

1:30.0

ran around it, right? And 55,000 of them there. Yeah.

1:32.5

Person. Hey, maybe not with the coronavirus, but, but hey, pre-coronavirus for sure. And

1:38.7

then Kevin planted his church in Atlanta. And I can still remember when I the day I said,

1:45.0

Kevin, let me see if I can pour myself into you. Nobody has taken my leadership principles.

1:50.7

And both of you have taken them and built them bigger, better. You've done more than
