Summary

This Candid Conversation was recorded several weeks ago while John Maxwell and Mark Cole were in Israel spending time with some of The John Maxwell Leadership Foundation's top donors. John wanted to make this trip unforgettable for those who support his vision and mission so faithfully, and he took this opportunity to share on the podcast what it takes to be an unforgettable leader.

He also reflects on what he learned from his late friend Jack Welch about how to get yourself out of "the people pile" and set yourself apart from others. By asking how you can separate yourself from others in a positive way, you push yourself to be intentional, creative, curious, and confident.

I'm doing terrific. We've just had a great time together. I don't know if I talk any

kind of picking up the paper? No, no, no. I was my hope. I was hope when I brought you

Israel that you would talk differently. You're still folks. I do my best to put

them in environments where I can get the Southern out of his accent and it just

doesn't work. It is deep rooted. It's deep. That is for sure. Hey, John, I've got to

because guess what? We're going to do it all over again. Absolutely. You've got another

1:02.0

50 people coming in. And I'm going to tell you, I don't want to steal your lesson. I

1:06.7

don't want to make any more preliminary comments because today we're going to break down

1:12.8

how you have made this a memorable time. One of your biggest passions is to create memories

1:19.4

for people that will forever mark them. And I'm going to tell you, we just said goodbye

1:24.2

last night to 50 people who will never. They're marked. Ever be the same. They're marked.

1:29.6

And you're very intentional with that. And so we're getting ready to do it again for

1:34.5

another 15 days or so. I'd love for you to just spend some time talking about how you

1:39.8

made this an unforgettable two weeks for some people. Well, market wasn't unforgettable

trip and we just had a blast anyway. It was so much fun. And you know, it starts out

1:51.1

with let's get the context. As you know, we decided to do a great trip to Israel with

donors for our nonprofit organization. So, you know, we put a high fee on it because
