Like so many of you, I have been in pain since the release of Dave Chappelle's latest Netflix

special, The Closer, in which the comedian launched a series of hate speech

attacks against our community disguised as jokes. I have been grappling with where and how to

respond. I wanted to do so in a way that was thoughtful and in a space where I felt that I

wouldn't be attacked and dismissed. That's why I reached out to the podcast,

cancel me, Daddy, and asked, is there anything that we can do together? It's hosted by transjournalist

Caitlin Burns and Oliver Ash Klein. Oliver Ash is also a producer on this podcast. Their program

sheds light on which perspectives are actually

being suppressed and left out of conversations, you know, canceled. And given that Chappelle

sees himself as the victim and not victimizer in all of this means that cancel me daddy

is a natural place to engage this topic.

This controversy isn't going away, however,

and I'm personally committed to doing even more on what it all means.
