When I published my first major book, The Best Defense,

I went to the publisher's office at Random House

and as I was waiting to meet the publisher,

a guy walked in and introduced himself to me

as a man named Mr. Geisel.

I didn't recognize him right away,

but when the publisher came out, he said,

Alan, meet Dr. Seuss.

And there was Dr. Seuss, the hat and the cat,

right next to me, we had the same publisher.

And we got to talk and smooth, and I talked to him

about how I had brought my kids up on his books.

And it was really quite a remarkable and memorable meeting.

Imagine how surprised I was.
