I welcome Conrad Black,

distinguished biographer, writing his national post column,

about Mark Carney.

However, this is turning on lots of turmoil over Liberation Day,

the presentation by President Trump for tariffs. And we have a remark that we must mention,

because Conrad will help me understand the significance, by Doug Ford, the leader of Ontario, the biggest province in Canada, and a dominant

force when it comes to the election.

I read the headline.

Canadian leader Doug Ford proposes eliminating tariffs on U.S. imports if President

Trump does the same.

We're going to introduce a non-politician Mark Carney, but Doug Ford is very much a politician.

How to understand this? Who is he in Canada and what does this mean?

He's the, in Canada, the equivalent of a governor of a state is the

premier of a province. And the largest province in this country with about 40% of the population

of all of Canada, so about 15 or 16 million people, is Ontario, where Toronto and Ottawa are.

And he is now the thrice chosen, three straight terms, premier of Ontario.
