I'm John Batscher. Gordon Chang is here and so is our friend Charles Burton to comment on a story out of Canada via the Guardian.

Canada's spy agency is under pressure after Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister,

and his closest advisors say they were never made aware of a report that Beijing, quote, clandestinely and

deceptively, end quote, interfered in both the 2019 and 2021 federal elections where Justin Chidot and his

closest advisors and his party were victorious.

Now I recall we talked about this some months ago in 23. We knew

about it because it was on the front page of the newspapers in Canada and the story seemed puzzling at the time.

Now the Prime Minister for the first time is testifying in April.

He never made, he was never made aware.

Something's wrong here, Charles. Can you sort this out? Never made aware the spy agencies didn't tell the prime minister?

Well, we understand that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service had delivered 34 briefings

since the 2019 election on Chinese interference in Canadian Democratic institutions.

And eventually after a lot of delay the government agreed to a public inquiry

on this matter headed by a Superior Court judge of the Quebec Provincial Court, Justice

Og, with a view to establishing whether in fact there had been interference in those two elections.

Among the documents that were released to the Commission,

albeit in Redacted form, these are top secret documents, were a number which had titles like

briefing by the director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service to the Prime Minister.

So we had these documents in which it said that the briefing indicated that
