And this was really, really important. After you hear Soto's going to the Mets, I think the question

that Yankee fans have is, all right, how far did the Yankees go? And according to the really

good reporting from Joel Sherman and John Haman and everyone involved in this, obviously the

Mets end up giving him the 15-year $765 million deal. He's got an opt-out after year five

that the Mets can override by giving

him a $4 million raise. Essentially, this could be $800 million. Could be. All right? Basically,

the Yankees' highest offer got to 16 years, 760. So they offered Soto an extra year,

but less on the overall dollars to bring down his

A.AV.

Very competitive offer, but obviously not what the Mets offered.

According to Joel Sherman, Scott Boris went back to the Yankees and asked them, hey, do

you want to counter?

This is where the Mets are at.

And that is when Hal Sternbrunner declined.

So the question that Yankee fans have to kind of figure out, and it's complicated,

because I was battling all this as a Mets fan wondering if we don't get him,

where does my anger go with the owner?

Because you were even saying last week, like, Evan, at some point, like, you're going

to be mad at Steve Cohen?
