Summary

Labour suffered a by-election defeat and serious losses in the local elections with previous supporters backing parties on the left and Reform. Do Starmer, McSweeneh and Reeves carry on as before or change tack? Are they capable of recognising the scale of the challenge and navigating a way through to a second term? Later in the week we’ll discuss whether the Tories are doomed.

1:26.9

And I know Reform expected to win that more comfortably

1:30.5

but it didn't quite happen but on the other side the gains that they made in local government

1:35.8

were much much bigger than they expected and the most interesting sort of data I've seen since

1:44.0

those elections is also the number of second places that reform now hold, which is potentially very good position for them to be for the future.

1:52.3

So I think that was the story of the night. Would you agree? Or was there other things you felt, the decline of the Conservative Party?

1:59.1

There's so many things happening in politics.
