Summary

Maine Governor Janet Mills joins Find Out for a blunt conversation about something too many Democrats still tiptoe around: standing up to Donald Trump. Mills discusses how she’s actually fought Trump , defended democracy, and delivered results in a state that rewards strength—not spin. We also get into why the myth of Susan Collins as a “moderate” survivor needs to die, and why Mills makes the case that clear contrasts, backbone, and a real record are exactly what it will take to beat Collins in 2026.  👕 **Merch** made in the USA & union-made: https://findoutpodcast.com 📬 Subscribe to bonus content: https://findoutpodcast.substack.com  📱 Follow us everywhere: @FindOutPodcast   📣 Share this episode & tag us #FindOutPodcast   📥 Send us feedback and tips: hello@findoutpodcast.com  Learn more about your ad choices. We don't have to talk about it anymore.

0:41.9

Governor, thank you again.

0:43.4

So I want to start with some breaking news, which is relevant to Maine. We just heard that there were at least four Republicans who have joined with all of the Democrats in the House to sign a discharge petition to extend the ACA tax

0:55.9

credits were obviously very important to Mainers. We'd love to get your first reaction to that

1:01.0

and sort of talk about how if the what happens to Mainers if these tax credits actually do expire.

1:08.4

Great. I mean, look, I wrote to Congress a month and a half ago and said,

1:12.4

you've got to extend these tax credits. They're so critical. Tens of thousands of, more than 60,000

1:17.8

people that we know of are using those tax credits. People who've gone out on a limb to start

1:24.0

a new business, a small business, people who are self-employed, gig workers, they all depend on

1:29.2

those tax credits to stay healthy, stay insured. And without those tax credits, I mean, I can tell you,

1:35.1

there are tens of thousands of people who probably will have to drop the insurance because they

1:39.9

can't afford it. It's going to triple, in some cases, quadruple the monthly premiums for people in

1:45.6

Maine. And, you know, we're in older state. People need health insurance. Look, we've got people

1:51.6

who are going to drop the insurance. What's that mean for the rest of people, people who work

1:55.6

in large employers with large employers who continue to have health insurance? It means the

2:00.5

insurance rates are

2:01.2

going to go up even further, even higher for them as well, because the cost of uninsured is huge,

2:07.2

too.
