| 0:34.3 | It seems like all the scientists and dieticians and seem to want to talk about gut health at the moment. |
| 0:41.9 | And it's also been talked about in the context of the current pandemic. |
| 0:45.7 | Although there's still a lot of work beyond in the area, research seems to suggest that |
| 0:49.2 | gut health is a big contributor to a healthy immune system. |
| 0:53.0 | And we all want one of those right now. |
| 0:56.0 | So when we're talking about gut health, |
| 0:58.0 | we are most talking about the trillions of microbes that live in your gut and these good bacteria, which you'll often hear about |
| 1:06.3 | on adverts for a yogurt and yogurt drinks, they have important roles to play in all areas of our body function, especially the immune system. |
| 1:16.0 | And it seems that having a very diverse range of bacteria in our guts is a key part of health and actually those research should suggest that |
| 1:25.5 | running can actually improve our health through the effects on the composition |
| 1:31.0 | and function of our gut microbes. |
| 1:34.0 | So it seems that one of the ways running might help us to be healthier is by changing |
| 1:39.3 | those gut microbes. |
| 1:42.1 | But there's also research to suggest that elite athletes and athletes in general have more diverse |
| 1:49.2 | gut microbiota than non-athletes. And that's important because increased |
| 1:54.6 | micro-bile diversity has been strongly linked to better immunity, including |
