Yes, we talked about how to succeed with cabbage and today we will discuss some

problems you may run into when you're trying to succeed with cabbage.

Kevin from Epic Gardening here and I will be honest with you. I have

struggled quite a bit with cabbage at some points in my gardening career.

Main problem that I ran into was simply trying to disrespect it by growing it in the wrong time of

years and we talked about that yesterday but now what happens if your plants aren't

heading up? They're not forming that beautiful cabbage head. Well, damaged in the main stem can be a problem there.

That would be a pest issue.

Lack of consistent watering is another issue.

And then too hot or two cold conditions

can also cause the plant to not form a proper head.

So you've got a pest problem, a gardening problem, not watering it enough, and then also

a conditions problem that could be causing that.

Now if your cabbage head begins to crack, that is often caused by a sudden influx of water

after a long dry spell.

If your cabbage has been developing a smaller head in general, a larger supply of water will push water towards that head. The leaves don't have time to

expand and then you get that cracking. Most Brassica,

cabbages of brassica, are susceptible to nutrient deficiencies that can also

cause damage to the plant. So cabbage is no exception,

boron deficiency, rare one, can happen can cause a breakdown and decay of

the pithy center of the cabbage stem which then will stunt the growth of the

cabbage. Let's get into pests now. The biggest ones I would say
