Delin your host. It is March 7th, 2024 and we kind of have some some recent news that we are honored and humbled but excited to share.

Today we're going to be talking about BYU Idaho disinviting trumpet player and professor Ryan Nielsen from a jazz festival that is coming up and

We're going to be giving you kind of the full story, but just the quick story is Ryan Nielsen and his amazing partner Holly came on Mormon stories right at the beginning of the pandemic and talked about kind of spiritual abuse and even

suicidality as Ryan was a professor at B-W-Wy-U-U-Ido and how

he kind of lost his faith and transferred to Utah Valley University and he's a jazz player, a trumpet player, a jazz musician and he's a professor of jazz and we're going to be talking about that

more but recently he was invited to continue both playing at but also speaking or presenting.

Yeah, I was invited to perform at the Jazz Festival and also to just teach

basically high school students basic jazz improvisation.

Yeah.

And originally he was invited.

It's something that he's done how many years?

Several times since the interview actually.

So this was really an unusual experience and then just out of the blue he was

disinvited and long story short he found out I think you have been given the impression I don't want to reveal any potential sources if there are sources but you you have been led to believe that you were disinvited

literally because you spoke publicly about your experience at

BYU, Idaho and your faith transition

and maybe just for coming on Mormon stories.

So I think that's accurate.

Yeah, so we're gonna to be just kind of telling that whole story both for those interested

but also for the public record that a you know that this happened.

So that's kind of what today's going to be about.
