to get good at it though in order not to worry about it and that's the thrust of this show how do we get good at

money so we never worry about it again there's a big worry but a lot of people have and that's this

whole age long debate of rent versus buy and i actually have cap myself at sub five minutes for this episode because I want it to be

simple.

You can find great advice online around running the calculations of renting and buying.

And people will say really awful things like you're throwing away your money when you rent.

No, you're not not or they'll say

like ownership means some panacea some idyllic no it doesn't ownership means all these other things

when you're renting you are purchasing a roof over your head full stop and that is valuable in and of itself.

You are not throwing away money.

If you weren't doing that, you would be without the roof over your head.

So when you're renting, you have a roof over your head.

It's a very clear transaction, actually.

When you're buying, you're buying the roof over your head and some other things. Maybe you're buying this

feeling of permanence. Maybe you're buying this feeling of creating a home that's yours,

besides the fact that the bank holds title. But maybe you're buying this home with the ideas

to like fix it up and kind of make it yours and customize

it. And you couldn't put a nail in the wall in the rental, but here with home ownership,

it is yours. You can do whatever you want with it. That's one of the reasons. Homeownership is
