Good evening, everyone.

You can go ahead and turn in your Bibles to 2 Timothy chapter 3.

We're going to be in chapter 3 and a little bit of chapter 4 tonight.

Looking at a message entitled but you.

And in Paul's second letter to his young disciple Timothy,

we see him use this phrase but you three separate times.

All found within chapter 3 and into the first part of chapter 4.

And we also see him use it once in first Timothy towards the end in chapter 6

versus 9 through 11.

You can look to the screens for that reference as you open to second Timothy 3.

But first Timothy 6, 9 through 11 says,

but those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare.

And into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil,

for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness

and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

But you, O man of God,

flee these things and pursue righteousness,

godliness, faith, love, patience and gentleness.

And while I believe there is much to be learned from these handful of verses in 1 Timothy 6,

I believe God is calling us tonight to consider the three but you statements found in 2 Timothy 3

versus 10 through chapter 4 verse 5.
