Welcome back to Radio Headspace.

So I recently joined the Air Fryer Fan Club.

Everyone told me it would change my life.

Crispy vegetables, healthier fries, less mess.

And I thought, yes, this is my era.

I am officially a person who air fries.

Cut to my kitchen the first week. I tossed in some broccoli,

drizzle a little olive oil, sprinkle a little sea salt, set the timer, and walk away feeling

like Martha Stewart's apprentice. Ten minutes later, my smoke alarm goes off. Not a gentle

beep, a screaming siren that made my heart leap into my throat.

I ran back into the kitchen to find a tray of broccoli charred into tiny, small tree stumps.

My house smelled like a campfire gone wrong.

And in that moment, I had two thoughts.

One, so many crispy vegetables, yum and delicious.

And two, failure can happen anywhere even in the kitchen.

Look, burnt broccoli isn't catastrophic. But the feeling that rushed through my body,

embarrassment, frustration,

the, ugh, I should have known better soundtrack, it reminded me, this is how we often react to our mistakes, big or small. We go straight into self-blame. Instead of laughing it off and

learning, we let it shrink us. In school, currently,
