reality TV. I'm Jolenta Greenberg, a comedian and culture critic, and I will be serving as

your reality TV dramaturg. Reminder, a dramaturg is just a researcher that gives background information

on theatrical productions and helps put dramatic works of art into cultural context.

And a reality TV dramaturg does that for reality TV.

Because reality TV is a work of art.

We just don't usually see it that way.

But really, just like any other form of entertainment, it's storytelling.

It has the same sorts of characters

and plot lines that we see in every kind of story from Greek mythology to Shakespeare to

Vanderpump rules. And the characters we see on reality TV aren't any trashier or less

complex than any other character. They just tend to look a little different or present a little different.
