Summary

Is anything biblically wrong with enjoying secular music … for the glory of God? Perhaps you're a (closet) secular music junkie drumming to The Who, but it’s all King’s College and Sandra McCracken on Sunday mornings. Certainly we know there’s a line, but it can be hard discerning when we’ve crossed it and started abusing our Christian liberty. Besides, some emotionally charged Christian music is as damaging as Boy George. The Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals would like to offer you a free MP3 download entitled Theology 101: For Christian Musicians by John Hannah. 1:18.1

Can Christians listen to it?

1:19.9

Or should we actually spend our time listening to Don Francisco and, was it, Larry Norman?

1:26.0

Larry Norman.

Why should the devil have all the good music?

1:30.3

Good question. Maybe that's what we spend the rest of our time talking about. So I was a child of

1:37.2

the late 70s and the 80s and being raised in a very conservative Southern Baptist church in Houston, Texas, you know, we heard a lot.

1:53.0

You know, we listened to Christian music.

1:55.8

And because to listen to other things would have corrupted us.

2:00.4

I mean, I would have turned out like Carl Truman and Amy Bird if I had been listening

2:04.0

to the world's music or Satan's music.

2:06.5

But I think back, I mean, some of you will know exactly what I'm talking about.
