So, this is what a relapse feels like? | The Emma Guns Show

πŸ“ I've spoken at length about my body image, weight loss and recovery from binge eating disorder, so I suppose it's only right that I share what it felt like to relapse.

Recovery isn't linear, but this 'blip' was one that I couldn't fend off with my usual tactics but I did manage to navigate it differently from when I was in the gripes of binge eating disorder.

I hope sharing this makes someone else feel a little bit better or, at least, a little less alone.

πŸ“° I also wang on about hydration sachets in this episode including:

Ancient & Brave

Humantra

Willpowders

πŸ‘— In this video I'm wearing:

Vieve Varsity Sweatshirt, Β£45.

Hello, hi and welcome to another episode of the Emma Gunn Show and a midweek instalment of bullet points.

0:15.1

If you are indeed watching on YouTube, you will notice that we are in a slightly different location from usual, because we

0:22.7

are in the living room. It felt appropriate to be a little bit more comfortable for this

0:30.0

episode, although if you are watching on YouTube, you'll also see why I may have used a damp

0:34.2

cloth to try and get a quick stain out anyway Anyway, beside the point, you can probably tell

0:41.1

I'm buying time because the title of this video might seem a bit clickbaity and that's actually

0:48.7

what I wanted to avoid. But the truth is, this is just as not important a part of recovery but it is a feature of recovery that

0:58.6

I don't think I've ever really spoken about much and I felt very strongly today this is this is

1:05.5

the podcast that you have probably needed to record before but never. And so I am talking about recovery from

1:13.0

binge eating disorder or something resembling binge eating disorder in my case, and the challenges

1:19.0

that that causes. And for the most part, I think I do really well, and I'm so proud of my progress.

1:29.0

And I'm so proud of my recovery and I'm so proud of my recovery.

1:39.2

I accept that it's nonlinear and that's fine. But recently it has been, it has presented more of a challenge than it has ever presented and I did if you like relapse but in brackets but not completely so I have just to

1:51.0

give you context if you've not been here before I have throughout my entire life struggled with my

1:56.7

weight which is now a phrase that I find really irritating. But what it means in my reality

2:02.5

is that I was always overweight and I always ate more food than I needed, but I didn't necessarily

2:09.5

join the dots that I was eating too much because I was never really that satisfied. I was always

2:14.0

thinking about food. No food was ever enough. And so food was this constant thing that

2:20.5

was just chattering away saying, hey, want some? And funnily enough, I saw a clip on social media this

2:26.8

week of Oprah Winfrey talking about when she started GLP1 agonist drugs and how she had always

2:34.0

thought that skinny people or thin people

2:36.1

were just able to make good decisions around food and didn't go the other way.
