Welcome to the Boneyard with Steve Robertson. As always, I am your good friend that host Steve Robertson here on the Maroon Friday edition of the yard.

I hope you're wearing maroon today and celebrating your fandom of the greatest university in the state of Mississippi.

That's Mississippi State University. On Fridays, we wear maroon. I like that we do that. I wish we did it more, not just year and football season, but all year round, because we are Bulldogs. 247, three, six, five. Hope you guys are doing well. It's gonna be pretty awesome. Big SEC baseball weekend, and if you don't know, by the time you listen to the show, you may already be on your way here. Ball game has been moved up twice. We're going to play first pitch at 4 o'clock today. Originally scheduled for 6 last night. They moved it to 5 this morning. Elected to move it to 4. Trying to get ahead of some bad weather. It Could be some tornadic activity in its neck of the woods.

So we're going to try to get a ballgame played in advance of that. Could be some windy conditions today.

For all of you that are maybe just coming up for the game and going back, let me encourage you maybe considering staying here overnight.

Okay? We want you here, but we want you safe. We want you to come

to duty noble field today, but also next week and next year and the next decade, we don't want you

to put yourself at risk. So consider staying the night. If you're like me, I'm thinking I can handle

anything. And that will probably be that leads to my demise, right?

I mean, I'll probably bite off more than I can chew one day on a road trip.

But ballgame today, 4 o'clock, first pitch.

Gerangelo, Satji, will be your starter today.

And, yeah, I thought he pitched well last weekend, with the exception of the first ending.

And again, the first time in his life that he's pitching the ball game at a temperature under 70 degrees. But he did really well after the first inning. So I feel like if we can get through that first inning, kind of get the butterflies kind of under control, then we've got chance. You know, we've got to go out there and hit the baseball. And I'm sharing with you guys on the show many times. And, you know, hey, I was a baseball player.

I wasn't hit the baseball. And as I've shared with you guys on the show many times,

and, you know, hey, I was a baseball player. I wasn't a great baseball player. I was probably a better coach and a better little league dad than I was a baseball player. But I love the game. But here's the thing that I've learned from watching, observing, covering, and coaching baseball in my lifetime. When you don't get good starting pitching, you have nothing.

You have absolutely nothing.

I don't care how good you are offensively. I don't care how good you are defensively. When you don't have good starting pitching, your chances of winning are next to none. You get a quality start. Defense plays well behind you. That's generally how it works. And games are competitive.

And that's what happens with us.

When we lose, oh my gosh, it's a blowout.

Last Friday was really the only close loss we've had all year.

I guess you can go back to that VMI game where we absolutely imploded in the bullpen.
