Summary

Mississippi State saw their run in the NCAA Women's Tournament end on Sunday with a tough loss to Oregon in Portland.

While assured of a top ten finish, the SEC champions came up short of advancing to the program's third consecutive Final Four.

On the baseball diamond, Mississippi State lost two of three to LSU in an important early series for both teams.

The Bulldogs will host Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday before hitting the road to Knoxville, Tennessee to take on the Volunteers this weekend.

Welcome to the Boneyard with Steve Robertson. As always, I am your good friend and host Steve Robertson.

On the not-so-magnificate Monday edition of the yard, I have to admit, guys, it was a little difficult for me to get going today and to hit the record button.

0:14.5

I know many of you kind of feel the same way, and you don't have the ability to kind of venture frustrations on a platform such as this.

0:20.9

So we're all in this deal together.

0:23.6

It was not a great weekend of Mississippi State Sports.

0:26.6

I want to give a tip of the cap to Van Studeeman and the softball dogs and Tyler Brad and the Hulker over there.

Big win yesterday against the number four ranked Alabama.

So not all grace guys in Starville and the Sun-A, we did come up today. And it's a nice day here. It's a little cooler than I like for it to be. But the bottom line is we've got a lot less to cheer for today than we did yesterday. Before we get into all that, I want to thank our fine sponsors, campus bookmarked, Stan and Man, Ms. Kathy Brown, the whole crew there. I've got so many people that have gone by and said, you know what, Steve, I had never really shopped at Campus Bookmart until you begin talking about it on the Boneyard. And I still get people to say, you know what, that's the spot. That's my place now. You're going to be amazed at the selection you can find there of Mississippi State related items, whether it be clothing or items for your home or your automobile, for your pets, whatever. You can get cowbells there, get wall decor, whatever you want. Anything Mississippi State related, you can get it right there at campus bookmark. And if you know, if you can't come to town, and maybe game day is a tough shopping day for you. Because listen, I get it. You know, as soon as I get to the campus of the venue, I'm ready to get in and get going. I understand that. And so if that's maybe you're like me, maybe you're better online shopping. So go to campus bookmark.com. And by being a lawyer, bonyard listener, we'll give you a promo code, which is BSR,

Any order less than $50, absolutely incomplete. So I guess let's get into women's basketball

1:57.6

first, because there's some finality there. We've got a lot to talk about baseball-wise because we've got this weekend and then the next weekend

2:03.5

and kind of the rest of the spring and summer for us.

2:06.1

So let's get on a women's hoops.

2:07.9

Very disappointed, not in our team, disappointed to end the result.

2:11.8

I really thought that the team battled very, very hard.

2:15.3

And there's so much that we can talk about in relation to, you know,

2:20.8

the fact that Louisville, as a one seed, had to go play in Auburn, New York, two hours away

2:25.5

from Yukon, and Mississippi State had to travel, what, 2,600 miles to play Portland, Oregon's

2:31.3

ducks, and that Oregon actually has a business school there in Portland,

2:36.8

and there's probably, I can assure you, there are more Oregon alums in Portland than there are Eugene.

2:42.8

So we could beat that dead horse to death, and that's something the NCAA probably has to look at.

2:49.9

But if you look at the bracketing rules, it's just one of those things that
