So I've been doing guided runs using an app, and recently at the beginning of the run,

one of the teachers instructed us to add a small incline and keep it on the whole time.

Her words were, set it and forget it.

We're building grit.

This was my second run of the day, and at first I panicked a bit, thinking that I wouldn't

be able to keep the incline on the whole time.

Then I focused on the word grit, and thought about how it requires a willingness to endure

discomfort and pursuit of strength.

So I kept the incline right where it was.

Did I have to take it off during some parts of the run?

But as soon as I felt that I could, I put it right back on.

This experience got me thinking about the role of grit in my life.

There have been many times when I've applied grit to situations, from finishing degrees

to doggedly pursuing a solution to a tech issue.

Whatever the challenge, I tend not to give up easily, and it has served me well.
