You ever meet someone who has a powerful yet quiet impact

on the world around them?

Well, I have a friend of mine who is that individual.

His name is Jason Atkinson.

He is a filmmaker, a writer, a speaker,

and a public servant.

After 14 years in the Oregon legislature,

as both the state senator and the House serving

in the House of Representatives,

he took a sabbatical to make a film,

entitled A River Between Us.

It's a movie that documents the largest restoration project

in US history, The Clama Th River,

in which the Native American community,

the government, the farmers all had to figure out how

to work together to save this river.

It's become in many respects his life's work.

And Atkinson has been so effective and so involved

in this restoration negotiations,

going back to the Clinton administration

that is now culminated in a victory under the president

under President Obama's administration
