Hello, and welcome to the Bucknuts happy hour. This is our fourth or fifth. I'm already starting to lose track edition of this show, this podcast that we started right before the 2022 college football season started.

1:19.5

I'm Patrick Murphy. We're going to talk some buck eyes today. We got a big one on tap on Saturday with the Badgers coming to town. First game of the big 10 season.

1:30.5

Today, I won't be by myself. Evan Flood from Badgers 247 is going to join us here shortly. He'll jump in. He just made it into Columbus and is getting settled.

1:40.5

As soon as he gets on, we'll jump him into the happy hour here. We may be joined with a couple of other local friends that I've got to talk some talk some buck eyes this afternoon.

1:53.5

We're recording this on Friday afternoon. It's a little early for a happy hour. It's about 130 Eastern time as we're recording this, but Evan needed to do this once he got into town. So this is kind of the plan.

2:06.5

I've got a Bells too hard here that I'm going to sit on. If you are able and willing, feel free to grab a beverage of your choice. And if you have one that you like, let us know in the comments section.

2:19.5

Usually I do it at my paramount plus glass because that's a CVS affiliate, but that was dirty today. So I went full Harry Potter mode. And this says you're a wizard Harry. I actually got this glass in England. So pretty exciting there. But anyway, buck I football. We've got a big one as I mentioned Ohio State was constant.

2:39.5

The first game of the big 10 season for both of these teams. Ohio State comes in 3 and 0 ready to go. Say what you will about the non-conference opponents. Obviously Notre Dame didn't turn out to be as formidable as I think most people expected, but you're 3 and 0. And there's a lot of teams in the country that would love to be 3 and 0 instead of 2 and 1, 1 and 2, 0 and 3.

3:02.5

So the bug is not going to improve on, but they are also where they want to be this so far this year. Wisconsin is one of those teams that would much rather be 3 and 0 than 2 and 1.

3:13.5

They lost to Washington State in week 2 and what was kind of a debacle of a game. I rewatched it this past week.

3:22.5

Not impressive by either team. I mean, I guess you give Washington State credit going into to Madison and coming out with a victory. It's never an easy place to play for the opponent, but just not a pretty game at all.

3:36.5

Wisconsin fumbles late that gives Washington State the chance to seal the game and it takes that to get a win in Wisconsin. Obviously the badgers are coming to Columbus this week.

3:53.5

They are significant underdogs. I wrote something on our betting the Buckeyes piece today about, you know, if you would take the badgers 19 point underdogs or the Buckeyes 19 point favorites, obviously.

4:10.5

Our piece on our round table piece on it with the predictions will come out later. I'm actually I was surprised by this. I actually turn or was surprised that I to learn that I was taking the Buckeyes to cover. I usually don't end up doing that just because of the way things work out.

4:28.5

More on that later when that comes out, but I think Ohio State is the pretty solid favorite in this game. I like the Buckeyes handle business. I do think that Wisconsin's run game will be very interesting for how the Buckeyes handle it for two reasons.

4:48.5

The Buckeyes first was convincing to come in and they're going to try and run the clock. They're going to do it, Notre Dame did limit Ohio State's possessions, limit what the Buckeyes can do offensively. That will take that will make it easier on this Wisconsin defense, which has been pretty good so far this year granted, not against the best opponents in the country, but still a good defense Jim Leonard always does a great job with with his group and, you know, we expect nothing less from this team as they continue to progress.

5:16.5

I also think that the part of it, you know, you limit those possessions, but also that that run game and how it challenges Jim Knowles's Buckeye defense. How do you stop this power run, this eye formation, multiple tight ends, those type of things.

5:35.5

If you look at Jim Knowles and we've talked about this in the past, look at what Jim Knowles has done before, at least at Oklahoma State, it was a lot of defending the spread and this 4, 2, 5 system with a lot of defensive backs on the field.
