headlines as the season is upon us. CJ Straub, the starting quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeye,

is at least for the opener on Thursday, September 2 against Minnesota. It's Doug Lamarice of Cleveland.com.

Ryan Day, making that determination, about 12 days to go before the start of the season.

It announced that on a Saturday, CJ Straub won the competition over Jack Miller and Kyle McCord,

not a surprise, but still an accomplishment. Now Ryan Day was not getting caught up in a celebration

in naming CJ Straub. He said it's an opportunity for the second year quarterback, was the number

three ranked quarterback in the class of 2020. Out of Southern California, a little bit of a

late riser in the recruiting rankings. And he did serve as Justin Fields back up in 2020,

but he's never thrown a college pass. That was his first year a year ago. Here he is. Now there's

a lot of guys in that class. Clemson, Alabama, Texas A&M, also playing second year quarterbacks this

year. Kind of a change over at quarterback in college football. CJ Straub wins the job. Ryan Day,

as he described it, didn't say he's the starting quarterback forever. He's starting quarterback for

Minnesota. Yeah, kind of applies to everybody. So CJ Straub will take the field against the golden

gofers. Just really smooth throwing the ball. Ball kind of jumps out of his hands. Ryan Day really
