I first thought that they'd all been killed in a car wreck. I thought, well, if they got killed in a car wreck,

nothing I can do about it. The low on emergency when they told me what had happened. I just thought I was

going like that. It was a cold, snowy night, much like this one. Bryce Durham, his wife Virginia,

and their son Bobby were inside, eating dinner in the den and watching television.

It was not a clock. Within an hour, Bryce, Virginia, and Bobby Durham were dead.

A normal day that turned tragic and has since become legend, hanging over the mountain town of

Boone for 50 years. On that one cold night, Boone was changed forever. It was just a really laid-back
