Hey, everybody, welcome to the single tracks podcast. My name is Jeff, and today Aaron and Greg and I are going to be talking about mountain bike vocabulary.

So whether you're a noob just getting into the flow of MTV or a weekend warrior capable of shredding sick lines on the reg,

mountain bike vocabulary can get tricky.

Not to worry, though.

Today we're going to discuss some of the insider terms that everyone should know

before going OTB.

So let's start off with some really general terms and acronyms too,

because those can get tricky as well.

So one of the ones that we use a lot, a lot of people use is MTV to stand for mountain biking.

Isn't that a little weird to you guys that MTV is?

It's like two words, right?

But there's three letters.

Yeah, and there's no N in there either.

Right.

So yeah, it doesn't really, just looking at it doesn't exactly, like, flow off the tongue like some other acronyms. But, you know, I suppose MT is a pretty common abbreviation for Mountain, and then you just tack the B on the end there. Yeah, I guess so. But yeah, it's always capitalized. There's never like a lowercase T.

Funny thing, too, is in the really early days, there was another acronym sort of competing, which was, what was it?

ATB.
