I'm Mick Garrus, and this is Postmortem.

One of the things I really enjoy doing on the podcast

is celebrating key anniversaries of landmark movies

within the horror genre.

Horror history is long and convoluted and well worth calling attention to,

and we love having creators join in and take a journey back

to remember and relive the roots of favorite films and television.

This time around, it's to observe the 30th anniversary of a sequel,

not only a sequel, but a second sequel to a true classic that has itself

earned classic status.

In 1981, a scrappy little independent horror film

with a wild eccentric personality of its own,

with cinematic style to burn,

would have a huge effect on genre movies of the 80s and beyond.
