In reviewing the nation's continuing effort to take stock of the least lovely bits of our history and the so-called champions that enabled some of the ugly bits, we turn briefly to

Stanford University, which recently announced it would be renaming Jordan Hall,

named for David's star Jordan, noted natural historian, ecchaeologist, and Sanford's founding

president back in 1891. Stanford also plans to relocate a statue of Jordan's mentor, Louis
