In this week’s episode, Tay is joined by Dancing with the Stars pro Britt Stewart and her husband, actor Daniel Durant! This marks the first time The Squeeze has ever had an interpreter on the podcast, helping bridge the conversation between Britt, who is hearing, and Daniel, who is deaf. The two share how their partnership on DWTS grew into a romantic relationship — from Britt learning ASL to communicate with Daniel to how she taught him dance and rhythm in completely new ways. They open up about their wedding, Daniel’s upbringing and growing up with his aunt, and the misconceptions they wish more people understood about the deaf community. Britt reflects on her journey in dance, what it means to be the first Black female pro on DWTS, and how the entertainment industry can become more inclusive for all. They also talk about supporting each other’s representation, their biggest self-care and mental health tools, and what they’re most proud of — in themselves and in each other.

| 0:17.6 | When production came to you and that he was going to be your partner and that he was deaf, what was your initial reaction? My mind was in Dancing with the Stars mode. I don't trust an interpreter. Sorry, Justin. I was like, I don't. You're like, we need to work on this. That means that they're trusting me with his story. I want to learn ASL. She picked up sign language so quickly. The interpreter actually became so bored at work. He was just standing in the corner. It was just something completely new for me. And I love feeling the rhythm and the vibrations from music. When did it go from friends to more than friend feelings for each other? I was talking to my mom and I was like, I'm thinking about Daniel a lot. |
| 0:54.8 | You know, I did have some feelings for her. She's cool. Look at her. She's an awesome person. And we were eliminated. I wanted to tell her that I actually liked her. And then she was looking at me. I was trying to think of something to say. How can I express this? His vows, I was Taking a back. |

It's okay if you have a mental health issue or you're not, you're feeling some anxiety or depression. Just be open about it. We're all human. We've all had different experiences. We're two very different people, but we're soulmates. We fully believe that. |

| 2:12.5 | So this is welcome. And then is it, is it this? It depends on what the context is. Okay. If, for example, if you were squeezing a lemon or an orange, you would squeeze it like this. |
| 2:16.6 | Or if you're squeezing someone with a hug, it would be like this. Or if you squeeze something with your fist, it might be a little different. It just depends on what you're talking about. Okay. That's what I gathered when I was trying to, when I typed it in, it said hug. And I was like, wait, no, but it's, so I didn't know. But can I sign it? Can you tell me if it's right? I tried to learn it. Okay. |
