Should Nigel Farage apologize for his schoolboy comments?

A group of Holocaust survivors have written to Nigel Farage today asking him to apologise over allegations that he made racist and anti-Semitic comments when he was at school. Former classmates have claimed he told Jewish pupils that Hitler was right and made jokes about

gas chambers. Farage has said he never made racist remarks in a malicious or nasty way.

He also attacked the BBC yesterday, claiming it was displaying double standards,

given it aired programs in the 1970s that would now be considered

racist now I would not support in any shape or form the comments that Nigel Farage

is alleged to have made as a pupil and indeed even if you put them into context they

still strike me as unacceptable bullying but I have to say and it's embarrassing to admit it that I felt

he had a point because when you bring up things like the black and white minstrel show it is

kind of mind-boggling the kind of stuff that was on telly in the 70s Alice not that you would

remember obviously I wasn't watching TV in the 70s I think two things can be true at the same time, but it can be true that these appalling comments, the boy is the father to the man, and we think that this maybe reflects badly on him, but also that I don't think you should be judged by things that you said at school, particularly if you went to a school like Dulwich College, you ever met a boy from Dulwich College? They are appalling. Would you like to

elaborate? I've just never met anyone who went to Dulwich College that wasn't a bit of a, you know. How many have you met? Well, several. I grew up in London. When you were at school or at university? I grew up in London. I met plenty of university. If you went to Dulwich College, please text I'm sure a lot of times radio listeners probably did.
