Hi everyone, welcome to Shift. connected. filling in for Pete Bigelow today. Over the next few years, the number of delivery vehicles and fleets

will have to increase by about 36% in the 100 largest cities

globally to meet demand, according to the World Economic Forum.

General Motors is trying to capture a sizable slice of that market with delivery vans

powered by batteries. My guest today Rashadad Yousaf, is here to tell you more.

Rashad is chief product officer for Bright Drop, the first to last mile delivery business that GM

launched early last year.

Bright Drop has brought one vehicle to the market so far,

the Zivo 600, an electric delivery van

with a range of 250 miles and 600 cubic feet of cargo space.

Bright Drop plans to launch a smaller van, the Zivo 400, next year.

The company also offers an electric cart called Trace, along with software solutions to its customers.

Rightdrop's initial customers include household names such as FedEx Express,

Verizon, and Walmart. They and others have placed orders for more than 25,000 bans so far.

The company is building the Zevo 600 in small quantities today

and plans to scale production later this year when it moves to GM's assembly plant in Ingersoll, Ontario.
