Okay, now for the show.

The Wright brothers, Orville and Wilbur.

You know them. First controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft on December 17, 1903, happened just south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. And that flight happened after many years of struggling through research, taking big gambols, having ideas, but not always

the knowledge of how to execute them, until they figure that out with a plane called the

Wright Flyer, W-R-I-G-H-T-Flyer. It was a big deal. You have heard about it. You know about them

and their flyer and Kitty Hawk. You might not know

that in 1904, a year later, they tested the Wright Flyer 2. Now, they couldn't afford to go back

to Kitty Hawk this time, Orville and Wilbur. So this took place near Dayton, Ohio, where they

live. And at first, the Wright Flyer 2 was, well, you know how

sequels are sometimes. Engine troubles, no wins to help it along. It kept failing and breaking,

but they got it going. And then followed years of trying to secure more funding, to fly more,

trying to secure government contracts. The Wright brothers went more funding, to fly more, trying to secure government contracts.
