We are in what would typically be a pretty non-eventful time in college football mid-July

when we're on vacation and gearing up for the season.

Less so this year for obvious reasons.

Today's show, we're going to recap a little bit of my one-on-one with Brian Kelly yesterday

and sort of update sort of where Notre Dame is and it's hopeful return to play

or at least return to practice right now.

But, Matt, as you've, I guess, sort of observed Notre Dame in college football over the last two months.

I think our last show was state of the program when we were maybe a little bit more hopeful of the season.

I think that even included Notre Dame playing in Dublin, Ireland, against Navy in my schedule analysis, which seems like three years ago.

But how, I guess sort of how have you taken Notre Dame's hopeful comeback and then your optimism or lack of it about college football overall?

I would say from the outside looking in relative to 130 FBS teams, Notre Dame has executed things about as well as you could possibly hope for.

I mean, to have just one positive test over two different public announcements of testing

to have guys secluded, I believe, in the Morrison right, on campus.

Right.

And by all accounts, following rules for the most part and doing the right thing.

And frankly, seeing Brian Kelly speak to you and to speak to some national radio shows and

so forth over the last two months, outside of Lincoln Riley, who I think has kind

of established himself almost in a league of his own when it comes to like recognizing

the severity of everything at hand here in this country, Brian Kelly has been really, really, really impressive. Every single time he's opened his mouth, which we haven't always said about that guy, to be completely honest. And you're going to have some pickups over 10 and a half years at the highest profile job in college football. But I think he is really, really, you know, showed his colors here.

That is he's a really intelligent guy.

He's a really sharp guy.
