I want to be delicate here about Brett Favre's announcement that he has Parkinson's disease.

My grandfather had it. My uncle had it and several cousins had it.

I am sad for Brett Favv and his family.

But the timing of his announcement in front of Congress yesterday is highly suspicious.

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's hard.

My listeners down in Mississippi know what I'm talking about.

Brett Fav was on Capitol Hill yesterday to testify about welfare fraud.

The Republican-controlled House Ways and Means Committee invited him to hold, when they were

holding hearings yesterday on welfare fraud in order to show why welfare should be cut in the 2025 budget.

Why families can't be trusted. Why welfare providers can't be trusted. Why

Americans in need should be denied welfare.

And Brett Fav was brought in as an expert witness to testify about welfare fraud,

even though he's on trial right now, very quietly, for welfare fraud.

He and his Republican friends are spinning his story.

Part of his testimony yesterday was to depict him as an unwitting accomplice in a massive welfare fraud scheme to rip off poor people in

Mississippi. Mississippi, one of the poorest, if not poorest states in the union.

I wish him well, but I find it suspicious that he chose a congressional committee looking into welfare fraud to announce his Parkinson's disease.

If this was an attempt to spin the story, congratulations. He succeeded. More on Brett Favre later on in the show. I know I'm

probably mispronouncing. It's one of those names that I have trouble with. This is the mop-up

for September 25th, 2024.
