Welcome to another episode of Hawk blogger mornings.

I am Brian N. Hauser,

and we've got big news to talk through today as Jay Glazer has reported just a little while ago

that John Schneider, the president and general manager of the Seattle Seahawks, has been extended

another four years through 2030.

Man, that sounds so futuristic that we're going to be having a GM into 2030.

But here we are.

And a huge, huge bombshell, I think, from a lot of angles.

Because let's start with this.

Let's start with the fact that there is an ownership group with Jody Allen,

Burt Cold, who we all know at some point is going to sell the Seahawks.

We also know that they've owned the Blazers and the Trailblazers.

And as of just a month or two ago,

we heard that they were going to put the trailblazers up for sale, you know, facilitating that

move. The question becomes, well, when will they sell the Seahawks? And the understanding I had had, or at least best I had known, is that John Schneider

was under contract through 2027.

I didn't know that for sure, but that's roughly what I understood to be the case.

And so there was some logic to maybe waiting until, until, uh, ownership changed. And then the new

ownership could decide whether or not to bring in a new GM and president or whether to

extend John Schneider. This move making it right right now, I think, is particularly interesting because it could have

implications about the timeline for when they're going to sell the team.
