Summary

In this episode, I explore the common belief that habits can be formed in just 21 days, emphasizing the significant role of DNA and genetics. It's not merely a matter of time; our genetic makeup is a crucial factor. For some, quitting addictions is easy, while for others, it's a struggle due to inherited traits. Our senses and memories, inherently imperfect, are essential in how we process experiences. Neural pathways and consistent actions are vital in habit formation, influencing our subconscious where 40,000 data points lie. These points affect our personality, potential for addiction, and much more. By understanding this complex mechanism, we can shape beneficial habits for a more fulfilling life.

Most scientists will tell you a habit can be formed in 21 days from consistent behavior.

0:04.6

That's not true if you've inherited from four generations the addictive behavior of being addicted to alcohol.

0:10.8

It could take you lifetimes. That's why some people can stop drinking anytime

0:15.1

and other people they have one sip of alcohol and they're off into the deep end

0:19.1

again. So it's not a matter of age, it's more a matter of your DNA, your quantum memory, and your genetics.

0:24.8

We get about 10,000 new ideas a day.

0:27.8

Thoughts, data inputs.

0:29.9

And there's two ways that we interpret them.

0:32.2

One through our senses, how we see, hear, touch, smell, taste.

0:38.2

Unfortunately, those senses are inaccurate.

0:41.0

They're completely inaccurate, and they're not the same for you and I. We see things

0:44.8

differently, taste them differently. The other half of how we understand what comes

0:49.0

to us is through our memory and we all know how inaccurate our memories are.

0:54.4

And the older you get, cancel but it seems to get more inaccurate.

0:59.2

Probably because there's more in there.

1:00.2

Maybe it's more accurate, it's more data to understand. So first of all, the only way that we accept data are through those two inputs every single day.

1:08.0

And you're created with a cellular memory that communicates with your brain.

1:12.0

So what she's asking is does it take

1:14.9

21 to 30 days to build a neuro pathway in your brain? I used to say yes. I don't

1:20.1

think so anymore. I think that at minimum it takes 21 days but determinative

1:25.2

upon your DNA, your quantum memory. So for example I can have alcohol, no problem and if I started drinking alcohol I could easily create a

1:37.6

habit of not drinking alcohol and in 21 days a straight neural pathway would be
