And So, I'm joined today by Pedro Charbel as well as David Adler. If you could both introduce

yourself, we'll start with Pedro.

Hey Nick, hey David, good to be here.

I'm Pedro Charbel.

I'm in charge of international relations and human rights

for the Basile Parliamentary Group in Congress.

And also ahead of this in our parties foundation

the Foundation Laubo campus Maria Lefranco happy to join you.

Nick great to be here I'm the Progressive International's General Coordinator and a political

economist by training. I'm sure we'll get into some of these questions of political economy

and how they apply to the recent election result in Brazil that Pedro and I shared on that night in

Sao Paulo on Sunday watching the results come in.

Great so let's jump right into it because there's a lot to talk about.

So last Sunday was the first round of the presidential elections, I believe, Lula de sova, was leading by at least 5 million

votes if I remember correctly, which is a higher and and he had like around 48, 49% of the total vote

tally, which was more than he's gotten in a, you know, in previous presidential elections, but let's start with Pedro and maybe just a quick reflection on Sunday night's results and what they mean for the upcoming second round at the end of this month?

Sure. Well, so first of all, like nobody expected this would be an easy election to win. We were all very confident, we believe

we're going to win. Statistics are on our side and the campaign as well. And of course the general

feeling of the Brazilian people that this has to be done.

People are they really want to get over Bolsonaro.

So when we see the results of course there is a shock people

raiding to win on first turn.
