Welcome to middays, I'm Susie Larson.

0:26.6

I always honored to get to spend this time with you.

0:28.6

In fact, I look forward to bringing you conversations every single day

0:31.6

that hopefully inspire you in your faith walk,

0:33.6

that deep in your understanding of God's Word,

0:35.6

that heightens your awareness of his very real presence in your life. I remember a time when I was in college, and I battled

0:41.9

insecurity in the worst way. I was the poster child for insecurity. Remember praying? I read the

0:47.2

Bible. I fasted. I could not find freedom. I even had friends tell me things like, you know, you're like

0:52.5

the kindest person I know. You should really feel better about yourself than you do. It was sweet, but it didn't help me at all. I remember one day just praying, and I felt like God impressed something on my heart. The reason I just know it was him because I was not smart enough to come up with this, but he just whispered to my heart, Susie, as bad as you think you are, well, you're actually

1:11.2

worse than that. And I've known that the whole time. That's why you need a savior. And the good news is you have one. I can't even tell you what a game-changing moment that was for me, because it was like there's something in my core that I knew. You know, even on my worst day, I'm capable of much worse than that. And I know it's not a popular message, but I just don't think we'll ever be free until we're willing to embrace our own depravity. Because those who have been forgiven much are those who love much. That's why I'm so excited to welcome Brandt Hansen back to the show. I love this guy. I love him. Like Mike Donahe said in the endorsement of Brandt's new book, Brand has this rare ability to evoke simultaneous bouts of laughter and moans of conviction. And I felt that way going through this book. I loved it so much. He's here to talk about his new book. It's titled The Truth About Us, the very good news about how very bad we are. Would you believe we've got seven copies to give away? I so love to be able to give

books away on the show. So you just got to text the word book to get in on the drawing. Text 877-933-2484. It'll kick back a link. It'll just take you a moment. You fill that out and you're in the drawing. Quick announcement before we hear from Brandt. Just a quick question, do you have a dream? Do you have a dream of publishing a book someday?

Well, we've moved our Northwestern Christian Writers Conference online, and we've dropped the price significantly. So instead of $250 ticket, it's a $150 ticket. And instead of attending only three to four breakout sessions, you'll have access to over 20 sessions. Karen Kingsbury and Dr. Alicia Britt Scholle are still our keynotes.

2:35.2

We're still going to do our live one-on-ones and our pro-advice panel via Zoom. I don't want you to miss it. If you have a dream of writing, we'll hope you'll join us. Find the information on the web at Northwestern Christian Writersconference.com. Let me tell you about my guests. We'll get This conversation started.

He's an advocate for healing children with correctable disabilities through Cure International. He's also the host of a popular podcast. I laughed out loud when I heard the title, The Brant and Sherry Oddcast, of course it is, you know, and the author of Unoffendable and Blessed Are the Misfits.

We've talked to about both those books on the show of the past. So honored to have you back with us, Brant. Welcome back to the show. Susie, thank you. I am honored to be back. Looking forward to our conversation. As you know, we love to start every day talking scripture, and I'm wondering if there's verse you've been hanging around these days you can share with us one that has jumped out at me just today and I had to look it up to find exactly where
