Brandon Wesley Embry was born on September 7, 1986 in Louisville, Kentucky. Raised in a military family, he moved around a lot as a child, even spending some time abroad in Italy.

But eventually, he and his family, consisting of his mom Sarah, Stepped Out Reg, and siblings Rachel and Scott, settled back into the US and moved to Washington State.

His family described him as introverted and brainy. He was naturally curious, especially where science and technology were concerned.

In addition to his academic endeavors, he was athletic and really enjoyed working out.

So after graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy, working on a submarine as a nuclear machinist.
