About a thousand new laws went into effect in

this state of California. January 1st. Governor Gavin Newsom was on it. He yelled a press conference in

Oakland where the theme was, we are actually going to arrest people this year. Their new

shoplifting laws, new property crime laws are being enforced. new laws actually allowing police to pursue drivers

who blow through red lights right in front of them or are drunk, rather than authorizing

police to say, you know, there ought to be a law. There's another law on the books in California,

which says that school districts cannot compel teachers or punish teachers who do not tell parents

if their kids come out as gay or trans. Here's Newsom's quote on that.

Quote, teachers can still talk to parents. What they can't do is fire a teacher for not being a snitch.
