Today, we're going to continue our conversation about challenges to democracy in America

by talking with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

In early January of 2020, then President Trump now famously encouraged Raffensperger to

help overturn the election results in Georgia.

Here's what Trump had to say.

I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more that we have.

Trump also said that, quote, there's nothing wrong with saying that, you know, that you've

recalculated.

Raffensperger rejected the president's claims and has consistently spoken out against

conspiracy theories surrounding the election.

He's now facing a primary from Congressman Jody Heist, whom Trump has endorsed, and

his 2022 re-election bid.

Last week on this podcast, Representative Adam Schiff expressed his worries about American

democracy and questioned what might have happened had Raffensperger not rebuffed the president's

requests.

Raffensperger has a new book out next month called Integrity Counts, and I wanted to know

if he shares ships concerns and also what he makes of the overall state of our democracy.
