I'm Brooke Ladstone. And I'm Bob Garfield. For years, U.S. preppers have invested time and money getting ready for imagined

doomsday scenarios. So are they prepped?

You can't make up a story anymore. It doesn't work. We've got coronavirus, and it's not

hypothetical. It's actually happening. Also, a new podcast about the government response to Katrina

sheds light on what to expect in our current national emergency.

A lot of the lessons that we should have learned during Katrina were about how do we redirect government inertia into cutting the red tape to help people.

And now it's our time. We must sacrifice together.

Obviously, there's a big difference between what we fought then and what we're fighting now.

It's the invisible enemy. It's always the toughest enemy.

And yet precisely the same threat is posed by what then and now could be called the enemy within.

The American people will not relish the idea of any American citizen growing rich and fat in an emergency of blood and slaughter and human suffering.
