BP is cashing in on Castrol. Waymo is updating how its robotaxies operate, and S&P announces upcoming index changes.

BP has agreed to sell a 65% controlling stake in its Castrol Lubricans business

to alternative investment firm Stone Peak, valuing the unit at $10.1 billion.

BP will keep a 35% minority stake while the Canada Pension Plan

Investment Board will invest up to $1.05 billion for an indirect interest. Earlier reports suggest

BP could sell its remaining stake after a two-year lock-in period. Discussions between BP and Stone Peak began in

November and as part of BP's $20 billion divestment program with early valuations closer to $8 billion.

According to a Wall Street Journal report based on the final terms, BP is expected to receive about $6 billion for the 65% stake.

S&P Dow Jones indices announced that UiPath will replace Sinovus Financial in the S&P mid-cap 400,

effective the 2nd of January.

The change allows Sinovus's pending acquisition by Pinnacle Financial Partners.

Versaunt Media Group will join the S&P Small Cap 600 on the 6th of January,

replacing Brandywine Realty Trust.

The move comes after Versaunt's spinoff from Comcast, which will continue to be included in the S&P 500.

Now an update to a story we told you about on Monday here on Wall Street Breakfast.

Waymo Alphabet self-driving car unit said it is rolling out software updates across its entire fleet

in addition to updating its emergency response protocol.

The updates will add more outage-related data so vehicles have better context and can

navigate more decisively while also improving how the company responds during disruptions.
