When someone is a controversial figure, it's hard to determine what is fact and what is fabrication.

who farmed land on a plantation in Arkansas. His parents, who together had 14 children prior to their marriage, went on to have

12 more children together, Sonny being the second youngest. Though there is no record of his

birth, since it wasn't mandatory at the time to have a birth certificate, Sonny would later

say he believed his birthday to be May 8, 1932,

and would use this date for any official documentation. But many believed this date to be inaccurate.
