Welcome to Manager Tools. Today's topic. Boss Meeting Prep. No surprises. Here we go. Today we're going to talk about how to prepare your boss for attending any meeting

you're running. It might be surprising if those that were doing this but in our

experience too many directs surprise their boss.

And your boss getting surprised in the meeting,

that's not a good thing, right?

Yeah, I think people feel like, well, everybody's

a professional, and so when we come to

meetings if you have you know in this case we're going to talk about deliverables and

if you haven't done something you haven't done something you have done something you

I don't up to it but she was if you know your boss is going to end up being under the bus, even if you didn't throw him under the bus,

wouldn't you do something to say, hey, by the way, don't walk in front of the bus?

Even if you're not the driver, even if you're a passenger driver even if you're a passenger yeah something even if you're

a bystander right yeah if you know it's one thing for your boss to be surprised and

for you to be the cause of it but but your boss getting surprised in front of his own directs is a very bad

thing and your boss getting surprised in front of her directs when you knew the topic was scheduled

and would likely surprise her, it's not just very bad, it's almost intolerable.

I hate to say this, but as a boss, if that happens a couple of times where, again, being surprised is something

you assume your directs don't want to do to you, but then you know they have four knowledge that you're likely to be surprised and they go ahead and surprise you, then that becomes intentional at some point, right?

Yeah, well I'd tell you what, I try not to give feedback to folks unless I can chuckle

while I'm doing it, you know.

I try to manage myself that way.

But in this case, I'd have a real hard time
