It is the morning after the night before the government and its ministers reluctantly started the shoring up of Boris Johnson as Prime Minister of this

great country of ours.

After what can only be described as the worst ever day in his chequered political career,

the legitimacy of Boris as the leader of the Conservative Party is hanging by a thread,

teetering on the edge of a precipice and just one more leak away from oblivion.

And we're told there is one coming.

His half-hearted

apology in the House of Commons did nothing to convince those who think he has run out of road,

and I'm certainly one of those, that he should stay in Downing Street. And indeed, the silence

was deafening from Tory MPs as he made it. Jacob Rees-Mogg and a few other selected

members of the cabinet were all wheeled out to defend him. We'll hear from Jacob Rees-Mogg, who appeared on the Jeremy Carl Show yesterday afternoon and elsewhere. But it was

hours before Rishi Sunak and Liz Truss came out with anything at all. And it wasn't
