And today I'm breaking down a book.

This is a really, really great book, and I read this book a lot, and it's really, really easy to read.

I have a couple of copies, and I actually, this is the book that I always take with me.

Whenever I'm going shopping with my wife,

I take it with me and I put it in my back pocket because it's really small. So that way when my wife is shopping at Victoria's Secret, you know, I can sit down and read and get some wisdom

while I'm just waiting, right? Because shopping is certainly not one of my most favorite things

to do. But this book changed the game for me and I actually read it or I got it because I heard

about it from Phil Jackson when I read one of his books.

And this was a book that he gave to Kobe and Jordan, the leaders of his team.

And this book is called The Dow of Leadership.

All right. Now, this is written by John Heider, and basically he gives his interpretation of Lao Zuz's Dao-Dai Jing, right, which is a classic,

classic ancient text, similar to the Bible. I'm not calling it a Bible, but it is very, very old, very timeless, and has a ton of

wisdom in it. And he just gives his take. And there's cool little pictures on the side of each

page, but it's really powerful. And what I'm going to read is this excerpt from it, and it's called

Being a Midwife. So I'm going to read it and then I'm

explain what I believe it means. He says, the wise leader does not intervene unnecessarily.

The leader's presence is felt, but often the group runs itself. Lesser leaders do a lot. Say a lot,

have followers form cults. Even worse ones use fear to energize the group

and force to overcome resistance. Only the most dreadful leaders have bad reputations.

Remember that you are facilitating another person's process. It is not your process. Do not intrude.
