All right, we got some breaking news in the tanking world in the NBA, everybody.

According to ESPN and Shams, the NBA Board of Governors has passed new anti-tanking rules

that include expanding the draft lottery from 14 to 16 teams, a relegation zone where the bottom

three teams gets penalized with lessen chances for the number one

pick, flattened odds.

That's what the sources have told Shams and all.

So Derek Devon and Bree here on the PHI-6s podcast, they're punishing the worst teams

when it comes to this.

Yeah.

So just to highlight how severe these changes are, let's go back eight years, 2018, which

is now two lottery systems ago.

But back then, the worst record had a 25% chance of getting the top pick.

Second worst had a 19.9%.

Third worst had a 15.6% chance.

So basically there was about a 60% chance one of those three teams would get the first

overall pick.

Now under this new proposal, you're talking about a 5.4% chance for the three worst teams.

So those, the three worst teams now have about a 16 to 17% chance of getting number one

pick.

It used to be 60%.

So that has shifted the odds in a very dramatic way.

Of course, there's a middle ground in between there.
