I had a strange dream last night.

Now, I don't think I've ever started a radio broadcast or a podcast that way, but I did.

I was in a gunfight.

I was in a gunfight in this dream, and I was shooting a bunch of different people,

you know, one of those that, everybody's a bad guy, and I'm shooting a bunch of different

people, and none of them were impressed with my shooting. They would not stay shot,

is I guess what it amounts to. And nothing I did worked. And it was hugely frustrating,

as you might imagine.

And then today, as I'm thinking about it, I remembered something Clint Smith said at Thunder Ranch.

It was very interesting, very telling, because Clint tends to cut through all of the hype, the gobbly gook, the chest thumping, the testosterone, and everything else.

Clint said, one of the big differences between you and me, he was talking to his entire class in the classroom,

he says, one of the big differences between you and me is that when you imagine the gunfight you're going to be in,

everything you do works. He said, you imagine the gunfight you're going to be in.

Everything you do works.

He said, when I imagine the gunfight I'm going to be in, nothing I do works.

And I was thinking about that because we had a discussion on the radio show last Sunday. And somebody took me to task and said, well, you're just pushing for training all the time. All you talk about is training.
